Teaching since fifteen
I began teaching piano when I was fifteen years old under the guidance of my piano teacher mother, Carol Snell. I have kept an independent piano studio ever since. My students range from young beginners who will have a lifetime of music enjoyment to advanced teenage pianists preparing to study music at university or conservatoire.
I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano by the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and a member of the MTNA, the National Guild of Piano Teachers (NGPT), and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC).
In 1995, I began my association with my publisher, the Neil A. Kjos Music Company, as a composer, editor, and creator of educational materials for piano students. I have 300 titles in the Kjos catalogue, ranging from music and methods for beginners to advanced repertoire and theory. I have presented over 500 workshops for piano teachers in the US and abroad.
Training
During my teenage years, I studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. I completed my Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Southern California, where I was a student of John Perry.

From the Queen Elizabeth Hall to Abbey Road
Winning the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition led to Keith's London debut at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in 1984, a return engagement at the Barbican Centre in 1987, management by Columbia Artists, and recordings for Virgin. His 1987 Virgin Classics recording of Carnival of the Animals, with pianist Anton Nel and the Academy of London under Richard Stamp, was made at Abbey Road Studio One and narrated by Sir John Gielgud.
As a performer, Keith specialises in piano music written for the left hand alone.
